Explanation[edit]

The declination is the term used to define the latitude of a star or other astronomical body in the celestial sphere. In other words, the latitude in the celestial sphere is termed as the declination to distinguish from each other. The projection of Earth's equator coincides with the celestial equator. The celestial equator is said to have a declination of 0°. The longitude part of the celestial sphere is termed as the right ascension.
