Explanation

Strong interaction is responsible for one of the four fundamental forces of nature—the strong nuclear force. This is what holds the quarks together to make up a hadron, with the force mediated by the exchange of gluons. Inside the atomic nucleus, the residual effect of the strong interaction holds the neutrons and protons together. This is usually referred to as the nuclear force. The strong interaction that holds the quarks together is usually referred to as the color force.
