Explanationedit
Moment of inertia is the rotating body's resistance to the angular acceleration and deceleration. It is also called as rotational inertia and angular mass. Moment of inertia I for a point mass can be determined by the product of its mass m and the square of the distance r from the axis of interest. The equation is represented as I = mr2. The unit of moment of inertia is kg m2.
